Add a website ontop of another with some code?

March 9th, 2010

I made a header for a website with css and the main body part with html. I was just going to paste the html code below the css code but this doesn’t work. Is there anyway I can have my code display another webpage above/below itself so I can have my header and body in two seperate documents of code but displayed on the same page?

Well this can be done.

If you are using ASP.net, you can use web user controls and make 2 controls and paste these in one page. You can also use master pages.

If you are using servlets, you can use servlet chaining to render different parts of a page. Note XHTML will be an add for easy parsing.

If you are using ASP, you can import one file in another. and the resulting page will contain the code for both.

If you are using XML XSL, you can XSL:FO for a formatted output that uses multiple xml files.

If you are using HTML, you can use frames. Following is the code for frames that can show multiple html files as one page:

<html>
<frameset rows="25%,50%,25%">
<frame src="header.htm">
<frame src="File1.htm">
<frame src="Footer.htm">
</frameset>
</html>

Is Myspace a government controlled website?

March 9th, 2010

I had a friend tell me today that the reason why schools can log in as you and check your profile, inbox, and comments, is because it is a government controlled website and all the schools just have to ask for the password from them. Is that true?

I don’t think it’s government controlled. It’s just that kids aren’t supposed to log in to Myspace when they’re in school because supposedly they’re in school to learn.

I got an email supposedly from someone on my address book with a website details on it selling chinese stuff?

March 9th, 2010

now, I know that this person would not have sent this email and it now turns out that everyone on her address book has been sent this email. Does this suggest that this person has a virus? Also, I replied to her and to her work email. I got a reply straight away from her original email with the subject line "yahoo! auto response" and a copy of the original email. What the heck does all this mean?
Thanks for reading!!

Could be a virus, could be Spam or Phishing. They somehow know that you and that other person have a tie to each other so another company may have had access to that and used that in order to send you e-mail message. Tell your friend to clean their system and on your end, clean your system since you did open the e-mail. Then see if it happens again. If it was a virus, it may not happen again but if it was spam or phishing, you may be able to report it and then block them. Still clean your system since you opened that e-mail.

do you need Microsoft Outlook in order to do an email mail merge from Word?

Yes, because Microsoft Outlook provide the MAPI function for the Word to send out the email. And in case of Word 2007, Outlook 2007 is required and not a older version Outlook.

Project Censored

March 8th, 2010

visit http://coanews.org

Project Censored is a national research effort launched in 1976 by Dr. Carl Jensen, professor emeritus of Communications Studies at Sonoma State University. Upon Jensen’s retirement in 1996, leadership of the project was passed to associate professor of sociology and media research specialist, Dr. Peter Phillips.

Under Phillips’s guidance, Project Censored tracks the news published in independent journals and newsletters, and every year the group compiles an annual list of 25 news stories of social significance that have been overlooked, under-reported or self-censored by the country’s major national news media.

Veteran broadcaster Walter Cronkite said Project Censored “is one of the organization’s we should listen to, to be assured that our newspapers and broadcasting outlets are practicing thorough and ethical journalism.”

Phillips says, “the restructuring of media in the United States is creating forms of censorship that are as potentially damaging as overt censorship.”

“Media corporations have been undergoing a massive merging process that is realigning our sources of information in America,” Phillips wrote in a an op-ed recently. “Values such as freedom of information and belief in the responsibility of keeping the public informed are adjusted to reflect policies created by bottom-line oriented CEOs. Media owners and managers are motivated to please advertisers and upper-middle-class readers and viewers. Journalists and editors are not immune from management influence. Journalists want to see their stories approved for print or broadcast, and editors come to know the limits of their freedom to diverge from the bottom line view of owners and managers. The results are an expansion of entertainment news, infomercials and synergistic news – all aimed at increased profit taking.”

Additionally, Phillips said the 11 largest or most influential media corporations in the United States – General Electric Company (NBC), Viacom Inc. (cable), The Walt Disney Company (ABC), Time Warner Inc.(CNN), Westinghouse Electric Corporation (CBS), The News Corporation Ltd. (Fox), Gannett Co. Inc., Knight-Ridder Inc., New York Times Co., Washington Post Co. and the Times Mirror Co. – represent the interests of corporate America, and that the media elite are the watchdogs of acceptable ideological messages, the parameters of news and information content and the general use of media resources.

“Do the media elite directly censor the news?” Phillips asks.

“Without being privy to insider conversations, it is difficult to prove direct censorship by management of particular stories in the news. But an organizational tendency is to comply with the general corporate culture, and career-minded journalists and editors sharing this common corporate culture will create what direct censorship cannot: a general compliance with the attitudes, wishes, and expectations of the media elite and, in turn, corporate America.”
