How do I fix Microsoft Outlook?

So when I open Microsoft Outlook I get this message:

"Cannot start Microsoft Office Outlook. Cannot open the Outlook window. The set of folders cannot be opened. Errors have been detected in the file … and all mail-enabled applications, and then use the Inbox repair tool (Scanpst.exe) to diagnose and repair errors in the file…"

So I go to Office Help and they tell me to enter into "Run" this long file. I enter it and then am told to Set Associations…

I try to set associations and have no idea what I am doing.

So how do I fix Microsoft Outlook when I can’t even figure out how to set the proper association for the outlook repair file?
