How do I configure alerts for Cox Web mail on Microsoft Outlook 2003?

January 20th, 2010 | by admin |

I want Microsoft Outlook to make a pop up alert on my Desktop every time I receive a new e-mail. When I make an alert, there is this pop-up window asking me for a source or a web address. What is the web address I should put? Or, it said to set up a source how do I do that? By the way, I live in the east.

The best answer is cox web site on how to setup your email account.

Open Outlook 2003, on menu bar look for tools, click on tools.
How drop down menu click on accounts
Highlight your account and click on Properties button.
On first screen there nothing to change but do click on Servers.
If your Cox account supports POP3 just leave alone.
Incoming mail box
Incoming (POP3) Mail Server: pop.cox-internet.com
Outgoing (SMTP) Mail Server: smtp.cox-internet.com
Email name type mymail@cox.com (Some server require complete email address and other just part up to @)
Type in your password
Check remember Remember password
Check My server requires …..
Double check your spelling.
Now click on Advanced tap
Check two boxes by The server requires…………
In the SMTP type 465
In the POP3 type 995
Optional – check the Leave copy on……..
Check Remove from server after 5 or any other number.
I do this if I am gone from my main compute then I can read my emails with my laptop.
