February 8th, 2010 | by admin |Hello, I’m a Chinese user of yahoo mail. I’m have problem in POP3 setting of Microsoft outlook 2003, could you please give me some details about how to set up it, thank you very much. I’m always can’t receive and send message by outlook 2003.
Have you paid for Yahoo Mail Plus??? If you have, go to
http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/original/mailplus/pop/pop-08.html.
If you want to use outlook without paying for Yahoo Mail Plus, you can access your yahoo mail if you use Ypops.. You must be using the origional version of Yahoo mail, not the Beta version.. If you are using the beta version, you must switch back to the origional version, before installing Ypops..
Since you are just go to http://ypopsemail.com/ download Ypops version 0.8.8 and install it..
Then open your outlook Select Tools -> Email accounts from the main menu
Select Add a new email account and click on Next
Select POP3 as the Server Type. Click Next
Enter your username and full Yahoo! email address under ‘User Information’
Enter your Yahoo! Login id and password under ‘Logon Information’
Enter ’127.0.0.1′ as your Incoming mail server
Enter ’127.0.0.1′ as the SMTP server as your outgoing mail server
Click on the More Settings button and select the Advanced tab
Increase the Server Timeout to ‘Long’ (10 minutes)
Select the Outgoing Server tab
Enable "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication". Select "Use same settings as my incoming mail server".
Click Ok to close the More Settings dialog
Click Next and then Finish

According to Y.Mail Help, you must be a paid subscriber of Yahoo Mail Plus to use email programs like Outlook, Outlook Express, Thunderbird, etc., to access your Yahoo mail. Free accounts cannot be accessed by email clients.
If you already have Plus, go to this Help link…
http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/mail/pop/
Under the heading ‘Accessing Yahoo Mail via POP’, choose the email program you are using and follow the easy set-up instructions.
