why free yahoo mail can’t configure their account in microsoft outlook?

March 5th, 2010 | by admin |

It seems that there is no luck for the free yahoo mail users to configure their free yahoo mail in microsoft outlook.

No. The FREE Yahoo accounts are not equipped to work that way. You need to upgrade to the PAID version Yahoo! Mail Plus. I’ve heard that there are at least two ways to sneak around the system, but I haven’t tried them. One is by downloading something called YPOPS.

Meanwhile the FREE Gmail accounts can be configured in Outlook in either POP or IMAP, and I understand Hotmail is in the process of changing theirs to allow it too.

Yahoo blocks their free services from connecting to Outlook or any other mail program. Depending on who you talk to, it is either because they want to make money from their email accounts, or because they are trying to prevent people from using Yahoo mail to send junk email.

If you decide you want to upgrade to a paid Yahoo mail account ($19.95/yr) the site listed below provides complete details on how to upgrade your current free account to a paid account, and how to make the Yahoo Outlook connection work properly.

Good luck whatever you decide to do.
