creating e-mail merge in Outlook with Exel database — possible or no?

February 15th, 2010 | by admin |

I want to send out a personalized looking e-mail to about 400 potential clients. I have a lead list in Exel and I use Outlook (2007 professional suite, but the contact manager won’t install. I don’t know what that is about other than Vista usually makes most programs inaccessable in some way or another). Is there a way to create a mail merge like I can in Word, but using e-mails? How do I do this?

If I need Contact Manager installed, I can try to do that again. I don’t know what is going on there. Thanks for the help!

I do not have Office 2007 installed but I did log on to Microsoft’s Preview website that lets you run all the applications. I was able to conduct a mail merge and (pretend to) e-mail it out. The thing is you have to start out in Word! You do the mail merge in Word but you choose "E-mail messages" under the Start Mail Merge ribbon button. Then choose the Select Recipients button and Use Existing List. This is where you can choose your Excel file.

When you are done, you select "Send E-mail Messages" from the Finish & Merge button on the ribbon. You will then be asked e-mail information from which you can choose a column provided in your Excel file.

Good luck!
