HELP NEEDED Outlook not sending all my emails?

If I include 20 recipients in an MS Word Mail Merge using the data source (Excel) and Outlook 2003 only about half are getting sent (the seond half e.g. 10-20). When they are sending I see the " ! " and it says "send/receive error" What could be causing this. Again, when I look in the sent box, only half were sent and none are in the Outbox.

are the address of your recipient correct?
are you working offline or online in Outlook?
