How do I migrate from Microsoft Outlook 2003 to Apple Mail?

August 11th, 2011

How do I migrate from Microsoft Outlook 2003 to Apple Mail? I can’t figure it out.

First you need to set up your Mail account, you’ll be prompted for this when you first launch Mail.

You will need details from your ISP such as ingoing and outgoing mail server – look for them in documentation sent to you when you started the service or from their website or any help service they have.

Once you’ve created the account any messages on the ISP’s server, both old and new will automatically start downloading to your Mail account. You can specify in Mail>Preferences Accounts tab, Advanced tab how long you want messages to remain on the server.

If you have old messages in Outlook that are no longer on the server but you want to bring across to Mail, check the link below for some ways of bringing them across:

Need to know smpt setting for outgoing yahoo mail from my Microsoft Outlook?

August 10th, 2011

I upgraded to yahoo plus mail, managed to get the settings right for incoming mail through Microsoft Outlook, but can’t find the outgoing server anymore. Am using "45" for outgoing server port number, not sure this is correct.
Any advice?

Not quite – there’s just a 6 missing…:-)

Incoming Mail Server: plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com use SSL port 995
Outgoing Mail server plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com use TSL port 465

How to link work outlook mail with you Android phone?

August 7th, 2011

I would like to be able to access my Microsoft Outlook email from my phone.

Outlook is a client. It is the server you need to connect to. How you connect to it depends on what type of server it is (IMAP, POP and Exchange spring to mind as various different types). It might also require VPN access or simply be inaccessible outside the office.

You will need to consult your office’s systems administrator to get help doing this.

What stops Outlook 2007 mail from coming to user computer?

August 5th, 2011

Starting 2 weeks ago, I have hours of time where mail does not come through to my regular Outlook, which I view directly from my laptop connected to the server. However, mail delivered during that time does show if I log into Outlook WebMail. Help!
No, F9 does not bring in the mail – good thought. The only thing that works is closing Outlook and reopening.

It could be your firewall settings or please check the server and port settings one more time.

Can you copy an Excel Spreadsheet into an Outlook e-mail with the formulas still functioning?

July 31st, 2011

I have to paste an Excel spreadsheet into an Outlook e-mail (not as an attachment). Is there a way to keep the formulas functioning? For example, the summation of cells, etc. The intention is that the recipient of the e-mail will fill in the empty cells and the those cells will be totalled automatically and then sent back to the original sender.

How can I receive my Microsoft Outlook mail in Yahoo E-mail?

May 16th, 2011

I want to receive my business e-mails on my blackberry, and the only way I know how to do that is to have the mail forwarded from Outlook to my Yahoo account. I can’t find any answers online to help me and I’ve played with Microsoft Outlook for three weeks now. Please help!

To receive your business e-mails on your Blackberry, you need to set up the account in your Blackberry email program. Microsoft Outlook is not your business email, it is a computer program accessing the business email account. The Blackberry email program can access the account in the same way as long as Outlook is set up to "Leave a copy of messages on the server". That option is found at Tools > Account Settings > Change > Advanced tab > check box to "Leave a copy of messages on the server".

My friend says I went over the 2 gig limit and so I am screwed. Surely this cannot be true. Some of you masters out there have to know a way for me to fix this.
