I would recommend setting up a google account and use their webmaster tools. You’ll need to submit a sitemap of your site to it in .XML form. It’s easy to do. You’ll need to upload a file that they will provide to you to confirm you own the site, and that’s pretty much all you need to do.

If you don’t want to do all that, you can always wait for their search bots to crawl your site, which could take a while, but sometimes be very fast. It’s kind of a crap shoot going that route though.

After you have done all that, concentrate on marketing your site by commenting on posts in blogs and forums making sure to link to your site in your comments. This will create backlinks to your site and get visitors. This is something that search engines also look for to rank high within them.

Google has to find your blog or website first. You can do this simply by bookmarking your site on your Google or Yahoo home page.
You can also put backlinks to your site from popular bookmark sites like Furl, Delicious or Jumptags.
