Is it possible for a website to automatically add the site to your favorite toolbar?

Is it possible for a website that you visited to add itself or another website to the favorites toolbar without your knowledge?

Not that I’m aware of. Normally when a site uses java code to add a site to Favorites, it will popup your favorites dialog box with the Title that you wish to save it as. You have to click the OK button to complete it. Now, malware, that might be different. Those can change your home page. If you suspect something fishy going on, then google "Download Malware Bytes". Its a great antispyware program that works as good as some anti-virus programs I’ve used. I tried cleaning up a friend with my previous favorite antispyware called SpyBot, but it missed all kinds of stuff. It wasn’t until I tried Malware Bytes that it cleaned it up. Its a free download. Make sure you click the box that says to Update the database on installation. You don’t need to do the full scan, the quick scan searches all the major files, registry, etc.

Yes. This is especially easy if you’re running Internet Explorer 6 or earlier on Windows XP or earlier and you’re logged in to an administrator account.
