    Hello and thanks …
Hello and thanks for checking in.

First, don’t expect it all in just a day or two.

Your fingers should not be straight. Pivot instead of stretching. That way you will be flexible and fast.

I believe that we should train our fingers to play an instrument on that instrument. This ensures that we use the correct muscle groups.

Hammer-ons are good finger placement, targeting and strengthening exercises.

    Bass of Luck!

    I just started …
I just started tinkering with bass today. The first three videos were easy. This one hurt! lol

My fingers just don’t stretch that far yet. Especially not while keeping straight.

I plan on working on this one for awhile, though, until I train my hands to work right.

Are there any simple exercises that could help my finger flexibility more?

    Yes, string …
Yes, string stretching does help when while tuning up new strings. It is not essential, but speeds up the “staying-in-tune” process a bit.

Your “case” is not unusual. You will have to experiment with the angle at which you place your fingers and strike the strings.

A tip: Your fingers should not be perpendicular to the strings.

    Hello!
    I just want …

    Hello!
I just want to know how can I go from 1 chord to another using anything as a fill?
For example: If a guitarist played a C Major chord and went to an E minor chord, I would play the root note C and go to the root note E, but I want to play a little fill or something between the 2 notes for the Chord Progression.
    P.S. Love your vids.

Now I know it’s gonna sound funny, but I’ve got a problem with right hand nails on middle and index finger. No matter how short I cut them sometimes I get this annoying, metallic sound. Any advices on this one, perhaps I’m tapping wrong way ;) .

Thank you … and well observed!

This just goes to show that one technique is not suitable for all occasions.

In this case, I don’t have to move the thumb because the finger that strikes (plucks) the D-string immediately follows through and rests on the A-string, therefore muting the A.

    Kind regards,

    Hello Codee

Thanks for checking in with your message.

Initially don’t try to stretch at all – just pivot your hand off the thumb (which remains at the back of the neck).

Eventually your pivots will become less and your stretches more.

    Good luck!

George, I use the 1, 3, and 5 notes low to high on most songs. I have been told not to use the 3 note, but to me it sounds good and is one of the chord notes. Please tell me if I need to stop using the 3 note, and why. I have not seen anyone that could explain it.

Hello George, I am an avid fan of your video lessons, and was wondering if you could help me: I’m having trouble stretching my pinky to the 5th because it wants to crunch together with the rest of my hand. Could you tell me how to solve this issue?

Thanks for the lesson. I noticed when you played the 5th on the D string, you didn’t move your thumb down to mute the the A string as was stated in the previous lesson. Should we be doing this? Thanks again.
