First off, this guy isn’t “adverage”..probably below adverage, so his chances aren’t going to be good anyways. I’d consider myself slightly above adverage and I get the same results. On top of MAY of made this guy’s experience worse was the fact he sends out so impersonal and short messages. Women get so much mail you really have to stick out! No matter though, POF sucks, and that’s coming from a not so bad looking guy. I get the some BS. It’s so depressing I will never go here again.

Ryndie’s right – some of the guys in this thread need to work on themselves and come to peace with their own lives before they can let anyone else in. Someone drowning in the ocean grabbing on to someone who’s doing fine causes 2 people to drown… stabalize yourself first. Man up! Then look for a woman to compliment your life, not complete it. POF and its ilk do have their place, and you can be successful using them, but like with anything else with a worthwhile goal it takes a lot of work, some time, and use of your intelligence. You need to study the information a girl gives you on the site – read her profile, see what she’s doing in her pics… then personalize your message for her and discuss things in your life you have in common. There is also a ratio of 15 to 1 of guys to girls so you will get a *lot* of rejection per success

You CAN NOT make an objective opinion on the bases of a single test profile, and a handful of contacts thrown out with a single test message (which was extremely brief & boring). Your claims are ridiculous. Online dating sites require a specific technique and set of social skills, just as any other form of meeting & courtship does. Sending “Hi How are you. Want to chat?” is nothing but annoying for a girl that receives dozens of messages a day. You have to “woo” a girl.
